Your video and subtitle file are read locally, and captions are drawn on a canvas. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
How it works

Burn in captions in three steps

1

Add your video

Drag a clip onto the box or click to browse. It loads right away — no server upload.

2

Load or write captions

Load an .srt/.vtt or add captions by hand, then edit text and timing — type exact times or drag the blocks on the timeline — and style size, color and position.

3

Export

Re-export a WebM with the captions burned in and download it, with sound.

Why use it

Captions that always show

True burn-in

Captions become part of the picture — no separate track to lose or toggle.

.srt & .vtt

Load the subtitle file you already have; timings are read automatically.

Style them

Set the size, color, position and an outline or box for readability.

100% private

Everything runs on your device — your footage is never uploaded to any server.

Good to know

Why burn subtitles in

Most social video is watched on mute, so on-screen captions are the difference between being understood and being scrolled past. Burning them in makes them appear on any platform that plays the video.

Soft vs. hard subtitles

A soft subtitle track can be switched off — or dropped entirely when a platform doesn’t support it. Hard (burned-in) captions are painted into the frames, so they can’t be removed or misaligned. The trade-off: they’re permanent, so export a captioned copy and keep your original.

Keep them readable

Use the outline or box style over busy footage, keep lines short, and size captions so they’re legible on a phone — roughly five to six percent of the frame height works well.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the subtitle tool free?
Yes — completely free, no account and no watermarks. It’s part of Mokivo.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Your clip and .srt are read locally in your browser, so nothing leaves your device.
What subtitle files work?
Standard .srt and .vtt files. Timings and text are parsed automatically.
Can the captions be turned off later?
No — burned-in captions are part of the picture by design. Keep your original file if you need a version without them.
What format is the output?
WebM — a modern, well-compressed format that plays in every major browser and on most devices.
