How it works

Extract audio in three steps

1

Add your video

Drag a clip onto the box or click to browse. It loads right away — no server upload.

2

Pick a format

Choose MP3 with a bitrate for a small file, or WAV for a lossless copy of the track.

3

Export

Extract and download the audio. Pull the track from as many videos as you like.

Why use it

Just the sound, nothing else

MP3 or WAV

A small, shareable MP3 or a lossless WAV for editing — your choice, with bitrate control.

Fast & local

No server upload and no queue — the track is decoded and encoded on your device.

Great for repurposing

Turn a talk, interview or vlog into a podcast clip, or grab music for a new edit.

100% private

Extraction runs on your device — your footage is never uploaded to any server.

Good to know

Getting audio out of video

Every video carries its sound in a separate audio track. This tool decodes that track with the browser’s Web Audio API and re-encodes it as a standalone file — so you get clean audio without re-recording or screen-capturing.

MP3 vs. WAV

Choose MP3 for a small file that plays everywhere — 192 kbps is a good balance, 320 kbps for near-transparent quality. Choose WAV when you’ll edit the audio further, since it’s lossless and re-imports without generation loss.

Depends on your browser’s codecs

Extraction works whenever your browser can decode the video’s audio — MP4 (AAC) and WebM both work in Chrome and Edge. If a file won’t decode, it’s usually an unsupported codec; try it in a current Chromium browser.

Common uses

Extract audio from video

Video to MP3

Pull the soundtrack out of a clip and save it as an MP3 — useful for interviews, lectures and podcasts recorded on video.

Keep it lossless with WAV

Choose WAV when you plan to keep editing the audio, and MP3 when you just need a small file to share.

Use the sound from your own footage

Grab the audio from a phone recording to clean up or reuse in another project. Only extract audio you have the right to use.

No server upload

The video is read in your browser, so private recordings stay on your device.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the audio extractor free?
Yes — completely free, no account and no watermarks. It’s part of Mokivo.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The audio is decoded and encoded locally in your browser, so your footage never touches a server.
What formats can I export?
MP3 (128–320 kbps) or lossless WAV — the two formats that play on virtually every device.
Why won’t my video’s audio extract?
It usually means the browser can’t decode that audio codec. Try the file in a current Chrome or Edge.
Does the video quality matter?
No — only the audio track is used, so the video’s resolution has no effect on the extracted sound.
