Choose audioDrag an audio file onto the box or click to browse. It decodes right away — no server upload.
Lower bitrates mean smaller files. See a live size estimate and switch to mono to save even more.
Export the compressed MP3 and see exactly how much you saved. Compress as many files as you like.
Pick the exact bitrate and watch a live estimate of the output size before you export.
Files are compressed on your device — nothing is uploaded to any server, so your audio stays yours.
Squeeze a recording under an email or upload cap without noticeable loss for speech.
No upload bar, no processing queue — compression runs as fast as your machine can encode.
Audio files get big fast — a few minutes of WAV can run to tens of megabytes. Compressing re-encodes the audio to MP3 at a chosen bitrate, throwing away detail your ears are least likely to miss to make the file dramatically smaller. This tool does it entirely in your browser with the Web Audio API.
For speech — podcasts, voiceovers, audiobooks — 64–96 kbps is usually plenty, especially in mono. For music, 128–192 kbps is a good balance, and 256 kbps is near-transparent. The live estimate shows the trade-off before you commit.
Switching a voice recording to mono roughly halves the size again with no real loss, since there’s nothing meaningful in the stereo image. Keep stereo for music and anything with a spatial mix.
Choose a lower bitrate to cut the file size. For speech, 64–96 kbps usually sounds fine.
Large WAV files are often rejected by email. Re-encode to MP3 and the file becomes a fraction of the size.
Lower bitrates make smaller files but lose detail. Preview the result and pick the lowest setting that still sounds good.
